So, I was looking up some animated short films to watch and I came across an animated short film called “HEART”. When I saw the still from the film I thought it looked very bland and uninteresting. The dull grays, blacks and whites put me off. However in doing some research on it before I hit play, the synopsis pulled me into the thought that maybe the film isn’t what it seems. The film is described to be  “An exploration of transcendence. HEART presents questions through abstract metaphors and symbols, illustrated by the human heart.”

Now in my opinion, someone who has experience heartache, confusion, pain with love or a passion can truly grasp the emotion of what “HEART” does. Now I am “show and tell” kind of person. So I would love for you guys to actually watch the film because it poses so many questions and can be interpreted in so many ways.  I will say that the animated short is just an instant favorite of mine now. One of the top YouTube comments pretty much sums up my exact thoughts about the film. This person truly hit the nail on the head.

The most heartfelt scene for me was the battle scene. I think nowadays people are more excited and interested in special effects and 3D animation. Hey, I am too. But it’s not at the details of the animation that stole my heart. It’s the story, the concept, the art. It’s truly intense and it keeps your attention. The ending for me is a tear jerker. I can’t deny I am a sucker for love.

“HEART” is directed by Erick Oh a Korean animation film maker based in California. The film has been played in constant festivals and won multiple awards such as 2010 Indie-Anifest “Audience Award” and Angelus Student Film Festival “Outstanding Animation” Award. Eric currently works as an animator for Pixar.
