[BLOG] BLACK PANTONE: A Collection of Vignettes On Blackness
This is probably the most necessary blog on the internet right now.
“Black Pantone” is a catalog of black people and their stories of identity. I’ve never seen anything like this before, and it is certainly welcomed in an environment where our stories are often lost or untold. As a film company that’s dedicated to filling in these gaps this is a great place to start. People have a space to vocalize what their skin color means to them (or doesn’t). It’s beautiful to see various people of different shades come together to tell their history. This is the beginning of a really positive and beautiful thing.
The blog is founded by Ruani Ribe and her partner, Courtney Lamar Charleston. I had the pleasure of meeting Ruani last year at ADCOLOR and I’m so proud and excited to see her following her dreams. There was this angst of wanting to do more for the community between us and I’m glad that it’s starting to take form.
I challenge everyone to submit their own stories to the Black Pantone.
