The imagination is an extremely powerful tool that most people take for granted. As a writer I get to flex this tool every day and stretch my imagination to new heights.

I have always written short stories but I started writing my first sitcom in 9th grade (and I am still currently tweaking that sitcom) and that’s where I really starting to flex my imagination. I started studying character development and learning how to evolve story lines and with writing there are no bounds. Whatever I wanted could come to life right there on that page.

Over the years I wrote a horror film in spanish and a short film about a modern day Beowulf  that were both filmed and came out really well for what they were. I continued with short stories and screenplays but it wasn’t until I started writing the scripts for The Cynical Owl produced web series “You Know Them” that I realized not only does being a writer mean I get to create awesome characters and scenarios but I can pull directly from my personal life and stretch those scenarios to new heights using my imagination.

I can turn my friend who loves to drink into the ultimate drunk, I can make my neighbor who thinks everyone with sunglasses is a celebrity an extremely abstract stargazer, and I can make my friend who literally thinks too much overanalyze every aspect of his life and do it in a way where its funny and not offensive. My first writing experiences are more than memorable and I’m extremely blessed to be in a position to where I can continue to flex my imagination.
