***SPOILER ALERT*** So last night I went to see The Wolf of Wall Street and let’s just say my ass was glued to the sit from sitting so long!  A lot of the scenes dragged but I can honestly say Leonardo DiCaprio was incredible. His role as Jordan Belfort is probably my favorite performance by him so far. He was raw, real and just owned his character. There were no weak characters and the film kept my interest the whole time. I mean how can it not with scenes of Jordan sniffing coke off a woman’s ass. Yeah, it goes there.

I always thought Leonardo was great but he really blew me away this time. This film is just really funny. I find it difficult to laugh at films because I’m the type of person to find me and my friends a lot funnier than comedies. I don’t know what it is but there isn’t too many films that actually make me laugh to tears. I actually laughed out loud though. All the characters had a laugh out loud moment and that’s something that just doesn’t happen often. The story was interesting too. We are watching a man who craves drugs, money and hoes 24/7 to the point of complete and utter madness while getting filthy rich and finding out the consequences the hard way. I mean I always knew the stockbroker career was a stressful job but you definitely see that harsh reality in this film. You just see Jordan’s life crash and burn when the money becomes his one and only priority. Taking it as far as having people smuggle his illegal money to Switzerland.

I also don’t understand the backlash on the film, in my opinion I did not see them clapping their hands for the wrongful activity Jordan and his fellow stockbrokers have done.  I mean of course if you’re doing illegal activity and get filthy rich it seems like paradise but that doesn’t last because he went to jail! His wife left him and he became a drug addict ever since he started his own company. The decisions he made while on drugs were extremely poor (though they were hilarious).  Does that sound like a reward to you? I think people were complaining because for about 2 1/2 hours he is just getting richer and richer and towards the last half hour is when his life turns to shit. Let’s look at the bigger picture. He did a lot of things and the feds finally caught up to him. So I guess the film would be more enjoyable to others  if within an hour we see the glory then other half of the movie he is in prison? How the hell would that make the film enjoyable? We wanna see his downfall. What makes him insane, what causes his marriage to fall apart, whose he pissing me off, what makes him so addicted. We wanna see the affects of his misery at the same time enjoy the film we are watching. Corruption doesn’t get you far for too long and that should just be common sense.  Let’s not forget it’s a movie. You’re paying to be entertained. Martin Scorsese gave you that.

I think it’s definitely something to see. I can say that there are some times you are gonna wish they would just get on to the next scene already. Like I said they really dragged some parts and with no good reason. However, it’s a great film. Leonardo deserved that Golden Globe for Best Actor! If you haven’t seen it yet go!
