CAN YOU MEASURE INSPIRATION?
Have you ever sat and wondered what inspires you? I thought I had it all figured out. I knew of everyone and everything that inspired and motivated me… or so I thought.
As you all know, The Cynical Owl staff was hired to film and edit footage for an all female Lacrosse team (XTEAM). This group of young ladies ranged from high school freshmen to high school juniors. During our ten day travel I had the opportunity to see first hand the growth of them as a team and as individuals but what I didn’t know was that I’d myself grow as a person.
I went on this journey to do a job, but somewhere down that line I found myself in deep thought about my life and myself as a person. I watched the Xteam coaches break these girls down and strip them of this “everything is perfect” mentality and motivate them to believe in themselves and be better people. As I stood on the sideline and watched the many activities and workshops, I too began to feel inspired and motivated. I realized that everything isn’t perfect nor ok. I learned that I will fail and that thats also ok.
These girls started this journey unsure of themselves and finished it with an undeniable self confidence….and so did I.
I never thought I could be inspired by a Lacrosse team or event. I was hired as a sound technician and walked away from the experience a brand new person. Inspiration can truly come from anywhere.
