[BLOG] Summer in Hollywood…
It’s been over a month and a half that I have been in Los Angeles. Adapting from my move from the beloved Brooklyn. Crossing the country for 3 weeks. Just trying to figure out what’s next. In true form, I have gotten busy getting an agency, auditioning, moving from house to house, occasionally hooking up with washed up celebrities, and even sparing some time to get trashed and support Mexico in the WC. The good life. The struggling life. Whatever you want to call it.
But apart from that I have been also working on producing. Trying to expand from the “I’m an actor” line you hear around every fucking corner in LA. Let’s get this straight; even though I am actor, I am also a producer, a filmmaker, a Mexican, a friend, a lover, and above all, like Phil Hoffman put it, a hopelessly inquisitive man. So why label myself. I know what I am here to do, not only in LA but in this lifetime, but there is no need to flaunt it. Only when the time is right to do so, do you say it. But I am more of the theory off let your work speak for you, and that’s what I am doing. And yes, I have been watching The Master a bunch of times.
Anyway, back to me producing. Last year, I had the great fortune of working with Miguel Angel Salazar (Wimpy) and Josué Eber (Eber) on the short film Sadness. It is a truly breathtaking and innovative film. And I’m not just saying that because I’m a part of it, but because I know good art when I see it. I loved it so damn much, that I decided to help produce their next film. We crowd funded Loneliness in 2 weeks and now they’re off to make their first feature in Sicly. Booya! It feels good being a part of a film on the other side of it. And I feel like this one in particular is the beginning of something amazing.
I really can’t say that Hollywood has been rough to me. Although I know it can be to a lot of people. I’m letting myself be patient, creating my own content, taking class, and knowing that work will come. “If you build it they will come”. Fuck yes James Earl Jones, you know what’s what. In the meantime, when I am not busting my ass, I am enjoying the experience of being in a new amazing city, meeting random movie stars and of course, the world cup…
